Stage Front Provides Line Array Audio for Johnny Mercer Theatre

For over 40 years, the Johnny Mercer Theatre has been host to many different events including, touring musical and theatrical productions, graduations, recitals and town hall meetings. The 2,524 seat theatre's audio system has gone through many changes and upgrades throughout the history of the facility.

"There were regular complaints from patrons about sound coverage and quality, particularly in the balcony seating areas" said Marc Williams, Operations Administrator for the Savannah Civic Center. The Savannah Civic Center staff elected to work with Jim Brawley, acoustical consultant and Stage Front Presentations Systems to identify technical deficiencies and specify an audio system that would meet the facilities production needs.

The system needed is a user friendly, flexible house sound and back stage announcement system that will handle a wide variety of events. The audio system is also designed to be integrated with touring audio production systems when needed. To help offset the significant acoustical reverb in the theatre, a JBL VerTec line array speaker system was selected due to its tight pattern control and quality sound. The JBL VerTec system is powered with Crown I-Tech series power amplifiers with built in digital signal processing.
